Seven of the ten schools admit students directly into a BSN program — no separate nursing-school application after sophomore year. Clinical exposure is what turned Caitlin's "maybe" into "yes" — these campuses keep that exposure going. UF is the only school on the list with a full academic medical center physically on campus.

UGA (public health / pre-med), Mercer (med school pipeline), Georgia Tech (biomedical engineering / pre-med)

UGA has no undergraduate nursing major — its healthcare strength is the nationally ranked College of Public Health and pre-med advising. Mercer's School of Medicine admits Georgia students almost exclusively, making it the quiet med-school pipeline on this list. Tech is the engineering door into healthcare — its Biomedical Engineering department (joint with Emory, #1 nationally) is the path for students drawn to medical devices, imaging, and the technology behind the CT and radiology work that turned Caitlin's internship into a decision. There is no nursing at Tech; it earns its place only if her direction shifts toward the engineering side of medicine. If Caitlin's specific major shifts from nursing toward pre-med or health administration, all three get stronger.

As a Georgia resident, Caitlin should pursue Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility — full standard tuition at UGA if she qualifies (GPA and score thresholds apply). At Mercer, Zell Miller pays a fixed private-school amount and stacks with the Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant and Mercer's own merit awards. Zell Miller / HOPE also applies at Georgia Tech — full or near-full standard tuition for a Georgia resident who qualifies, which makes in-state Tech (sticker ~$32K) one of the highest-value outcomes on the entire list if she's admitted. In-state status is an asset at all three Georgia schools — use it.

Alabama publishes its scholarship table: scores and GPA in Caitlin's range historically qualify for their top automatic awards, which can cut the out-of-state cost dramatically. No separate competition — hit the numbers, get the money. Confirm current-year table when applying.

Out-of-state merit at the public flagships ranges from meaningful (USC's out-of-state scholar awards, UT's volunteer awards) to scarce (UF and FSU give little to out-of-state students). Apply early — most merit consideration at these schools is tied to early application deadlines, typically October–December of senior year.

Sticker prices near $58K are not real prices for a student with Caitlin's profile. Samford in particular should discount aggressively for a 33. Compare net price, not sticker price, when decision letters arrive.
